Will you Trust when your path isn't visible anymore? When the trail slowly diminishes?
December 4th 2024
Trust is a dance between the known and unknown. When I trust, I am saying that I know that I am being divinely guided. I know that God has my best interest at heart. When I trust I am also saying yes to my intuition, to that inner knowing that has led me to where I am in the first place.
The more I listen to my intuition, the more trust I have, and the more secure I am in my choices—the more secure I am in my path. The more secure I am, the deeper and more strengthened is my relationship to my inner knowing, to Spirit.
Trust is about walking even if what I see doesn't look like what I expect. Trust is about walking despite the non-existing markings on the trail. Trust says I have the capacity to take care of myself should an eventuality occur.
In today's experience I was already clear about my options—I could either go back and walk the same path I’d walked coming, or use my phone to figure out how far I was from the main road.
I had a sense of being close, as I had seen the swamp-like area on my way into the woods. The only difference was that I was on the other side now, and I didn't know if it was possible to cross it or if there was a road that made it possible to cross.
Despite the unknowns, my intuition pulled me forward; the trust I had guided my steps. And yea: that meant treading down a pathless forest. The swamp was my compass, and I somehow knew that I was close to where I had parked my car. And so, with that in mind, I decided to pull up my phone and check.
And best believe my intuition was on point!
Trust.
Yes, as we grow in our ability to trust life, we sometimes need confirmation that our intuition is indeed correct. That need to confirm is what eventually leads to growth in trusting life more, so that on later occasions there will be no doubt at all.
Or, if there is doubt, we will be swift to see it for what it is without letting it govern our actions.
When you trust in yourself, you are trusting the same wisdom that created you. When you fail to trust in yourself—when you fail to love yourself, you are denying your own divinity. ~ Dr Wayne Dyer
I saw a video last week of a cartoon, where one character was holding a wizard staff with a crystal in it and he was walking on air with a rope around his waist (his brother was holding the rest of the rope on the other side for safety). As he stepped forward, his foot landed on solid ground that was only visible one step at a time.
Talk about invoking deep self belief and trust in the magic that was making him walk on air!
The first time he almost fell off, his brother reminded him to believe in every step. Later on, when he turned back and noticed that his brother no longer was holding the rope, he stopped believing (he was almost at the edge of a cliff where he could finally touch land). In that next moment, the crystal in his staff lost its glow and he fell.
A cartoon yes, but even cartoons carry so much wisdom to those who are open to seeing it.
Trust.
When we trust, life flows. Magic happens. What seemed impossible suddenly isn't. When we trust anything can happen. Suddenly our reality is no longer bound to physical 3D laws, but to much higher laws. Laws that can bend reality. Like when Jesus walked on water. Like the miraculous healing that happens to people with terminal illnesses.
Trust.
Trust is knowing, without a doubt, that you are guided. That you are taken care of. That all is well. Trust says there is more than meets the eye. Can you trust beyond what you can see? Or are you always wanting proof?
Reminds me of a hymn we used to sing in high school back in Zimbabwe:
“Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to Trust and obey.”
I interpret obey to mean to take action. If you look at the etymology of the word, it actually has a root that means to give ear, to listen to and carry out instruction. Just like when our intuition speaks— if we don’t take action based on the messages we are receiving, it won’t amount to anything. This tells me that trust is not passive.
When we’re guided by life—our intuition, God, nature—it’s important to not let that guidance go to waste.
Our intuition speaks to us in different ways, and it’s up to each individual to familiarise themselves with how this happens for them; then put it into practise to build trust in ones inner knowing.
Maybe that’s all the guidance we ever need—the only guidance worth having. Being guided directly from Source.
